SAFS Pickup Truck Reservations

Reservations Home
You can create a one-time reservation online (must see front desk for reoccurring events). A UW budget number is required for all truck usage. You can pick up the key from the front desk M-F 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00. The truck is located in parking lot W35. The gas card can be used at any gas station but we ask that if you are in the U-district please fill up at motorpool located at 4549 25th Ave NE. Note: reservation calendars are for SAFS members only and require intranet login.

If the SAFS pickup truck is already reserved for the day(s) you wish to use it, you may be able to obtain alternative transportation via the UW Motorpool.
Parking a UW Vehicle Off Campus
- University vehicles are not exempt from parking fees at parking lots.
- Within the Seattle city limits, UW vehicles with exempt plates may park at parking meters for the time period indicated on the meter, free of charge. Violations may be issued for exceeding meter limits.
- Operators are personally responsible for parking violations and towing and/or storage resulting from parking violations.
Parking a UW Vehicle On Campus
University vehicles may be parked in designated parking areas on campus without purchasing a UW parking permit. However, there are areas on campus where parking may result in a citation. These areas include:
- Areas with official signs prohibiting parking
- Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
- In fire lanes
- Wheelchair and disability lots and stalls
- Stalls and lots specifically designated for other departments
- "Reserved" stalls
- Load zones for over the posted time period
- In front of any gate, ramp, or other area where parking would block access. In these situations the vehicle may be towed.

Collisions/Accidents
All collisions/accidents must be reported to the University Police within 24 hours. If an injury is involved, call the University Police immediately at (206) 543-9331. Collect calls will be accepted.
In addition, when a collision/accident involves personal injury, death, or damage to the property of any one owner to the apparent extent of $700 or more, it must be reported to the city police, county sheriff, or Washington State Patrol within 24 hours.
In case of a collision/accident:
- Stop immediately.
- Take required precautions to prevent further collisions/accidents at the scene.
- If an injury is involved, call 911 or the University Police immediately, (206) 543-9331. Collect calls will be accepted.
- Two different forms are located in the glove compartment of each University vehicle. The forms should be filled out as follows:
- State of Washington Vehicle Accident Report, form SF-137 (1/79) UW policy requires this form be used to report ALL collisions/accidents and/or damage to a University vehicle. Send the completed form to the University Police, box 355200.
- State of Washington Motor Vehicle Collision Report, form 3000-345-161 (2/97) State law requires this form be filled out IN ADDITION TO the "State of Washington Vehicle Accident Report" IF the damage exceeds $700 or there is a personal injury or death associated with the accident. Send the completed collision report to the agencies listed at the top of the form.
- Notify the Rental Office of the collision/accident.
- Bring the vehicle to the Motor Pool Maintenance Shop for inspection, estimate of damage, and repair.
Credit Card Use
- Use only when outside the Seattle area or in an emergency. In the Seattle area, fuel and maintenance must be obtained from Fleet Services.
- Don’t use the card to fuel other vehicles, fill gas cans, etc.
- Purchase regular unleaded fuel only.
- Turn in receipts to the SAFS front desk with your completed mileage slip.
- Immediately report a missing card to Fleet Services (206-221-3594) and the SAFS front desk (206-543-4270).
