The Urban Lakes Project
We are studying the effect of urbanization of lakes on a development gradient. (From 100% developed to completely undeveloped.) We focus primarily on lakes within 50 miles of the Seattle area, in King, Snohomish, and Skagit County, WA. We have four reference lakes in the Malcolm Knapp Research Forrest in Maple Ridge, BC.
The lakes were originally samples in July 1998, and were re-sampled again in July 2008 and spring, summer, and fall of 2009. The focus of this research has been TN/TP and N15 from the epi, meta, and hypolimnion of the lakes. We also take temperature and oxygen profiles, zooplankton and Chl A samples. Lakes with a star next to them have also been cored.
