Outreach
We (Julian Olden and Eric Larson) are tackling the issue of invasive crayfish in Washington State. In addition to conducting regional surveys for invasive red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii, left), northern crayfish (Orconectes virilis, center) and Chinese mystery snail (Bellamya chinesis, right), we are actively quantifying the risk of species introductions via biological supply houses and schools (science curricula). We are looking for partners in this effort, specifically school science teachers and administrators of science distribution centers. Please contact Julian Olden at olden@u.washington.edu.
