Von Bertalanffy Growth model with Random Effects

IGOR+: Fitting growth curves with random effects

As used in Cope and Punt (2007), this program offers a way to incorporate ageing error into von Bertalanffy growth curve estimation. The Excel-based worksheet is the front-end to a random effects model written in the AD Model BuilderŪ Random Effects module.

Set-up: Download the zipped file below and unzip to your C drive. Upon opening, run the example data set by pressing the "RUN estimation" button. If this works, you are ready to use the program. If it fails, check the program path (cell B2) to make sure it is correct. The 'HELP' worksheet will give general guidance on where to put things and what to consider. In addition to the random effects models, it also fits all estimation types mentioned in Cope and Punt (2007) and the user is encouraged to compare the outputs from each.
