International Services Office and English Language Programs
The International Services Office (ISO) provides assistance to international students in meeting U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service regulations dealing with such matters as maintaining lawful status, extensions of stay, transfers of schools or programs, and working authorizations. The ISO also provides a formal orientation to the campus and community for new students and their spouses, and provides advice and counseling for educational, financial, and personal problems. The office is located in 459 Schmitz, 206-543-0841.
It is vital that all international students consult the ISO regarding any change to enrollment status, quarters off, travel outside the USA, etc.
The UW’s English Language Programs (ELP) provide a wide array of courses to non-native speakers of English who are interested in improving language skills. Services include classes in grammar, vocabulary, lecture listening and academic writing, as well as the Language Exchange Program. International students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these resources.
