Software Installation Instructions
Installed Software in the SAFS Computing Labs
Full lists are available for installed software in SAFS Computing Labs. Instructors and Graduate Student Instructors who wish to add software to the labs must first direct enquiries to SAFS Computing Help. As a general guideline, we require a 4-week notice to install software. All installed software must be FULLY LICENSED for all computing seats. For example, the FSH 136 lab is a 25-seat lab. If you need new software installed in FSH 136, you will need to have 25 fully licensed copies of the software for us to install. FSH 207 was recently upgraded, and is now a 23-seat lab.

UW Site License Software—Uware
If you want software for your desktop or home computer and you are affiliated with SAFS, take a look at the summaries of available site-licensed software. The software summaries provide an overview of the software, details on the license (e.g., do you qualify?), and information about getting the software and getting help.

Special Note About Microsoft Software: Individuals within SAFS are encouraged to participate in the MOLP (Microsoft Office Licensing Program) offered by the University Bookstore.
While many Microsoft products are offered through the Bookstore, most folks are looking to buy a copy of Office Pro, or the latest operating system, Vista Business. Please use the following links to learn how to purchase the most common Microsoft products.
Once you have purchased a license for either Office or Vista, please provide that Proof of Purchase to SAFS Computing Help. Once we see your Proof of Purchase, we are legally able to install that software for you. We will NOT pre-install any software for you.
Special Note About Adobe Software: Individuals within SAFS are encouraged to buy Adobe software licenses from the UW Preferred Vendor, zones.com/uw.
While all of the Adobe product line is offered through zones.com/uw, most folks are looking to buy a copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Please follow the following link to learn how to purchase Acrobat Pro. For all other Adobe License purchase, please follow the instructions provided at zones.com/uw.
