Postage

Official University mail is charged to a budget via a BAR CODE label that is placed on the envelope below the return address. To get BAR CODES, send an email request to safsdesk@u.washington.edu and include a budget number and the quantity of labels desired (there are 80 labels per sheet).

Shipping

Fedex

Shipping: To ship items via FedEx fill out the appropriate form(s) for either domestic or international shipments. These forms, along with other FedEx supplies, can be found in the mailroom (FSH 113). Once your form is completely filled out and your item is ready to be shipped take all items to the front desk in FSH 116.

Note: If you plan to ship hazardous materials your package may require additional labeling. Please visit the Environmental Health and Safety website for further instruction http://www.ehs.washington.edu/eposhiphazmat/.

Pick up: All outgoing packages must be to the front desk by 3 pm to guarantee same day pick up.  If you miss the scheduled pick up, and your package must go out that day, you may take it to mailing services in the Publications Services Building located at 3900 7th AVE NE until 4:30 pm, or drop it off at any Kinkos FedEx center.

You will be contacted by the SAFS front desk staff when your package arrives. For questions please see the front desk in FSH 116.

UPS or United States Postal Service

Shipping: You can ship via UPS or regular postal service by using a budget number. Fill out the 3x5 “University of Washington” mailing card located in the mailroom and attach it to your package. Place the item in either the “small budget mail” or “large budget mail” bins located in the mailroom, FSH 113. Note: In 2010, Mailing Services' delivery and pick-up schedule changed to once a day at 8am.
